Price of .au domains going up soon, we still don’t know how much

Back in August we raised the flag that .au domains will soon be getting a touch more expensive.

The wholesale price of .au domains is going up on October 1, and our prices will have to go up accordingly.

We gave you heads up about this change a few weeks ago, and we don’t have more details to share, but we thought we should mention it again while the clock is still ticking.

We know it’s coming, but what does it mean for Chirpy?

We keep our domains as close to wholesale price as possible, which means wholesale price changes impact what we have to charge for our domains. We expect our costs to increase slightly on the back of this.

It’s only a couple weeks out from October but our supplier still hasn’t told us how much the price will be affected.

That means we don’t yet know exactly how much we’ll actually be paying for .au domains, and how much domains will cost in the future.

The price of .au domains going up is obviously noteworthy for us—we’re a site that does one thing, sell cheap .au domains.

As promised, we’ll let you know when we know the price when we can.

What we can tell you is that there’s still time to save some cash.

Last chance to save

If you’re reading this before October, you’ve still got time to register .au domains at today’s $12.50 price.

Remember, it’s not just new domains that you can lock in at our lower price.

Domains you’ve already registered can be renewed for up to five years at our current low price. Any domain you renew for multiple years will be charged at today’s price for the whole term.

If you’ve been hesitating on an .au domain renewal, or know you’ll want a domain for years to come, now’s the smartest time to renew for longer than the usual one year period.

When we have news, we’ll share it

We’ll be able to let you know what Chirpy prices will look like as soon as we know the cost from our suppliers.

And remember, you’ve got a little bit of time to snatch up a new .au domain or renew your existing names for a few years at a cheaper price.
